Teresckenko leads Baptista on Friday

08.05.2015

Russia´s Tereschenko (Campos Racing) has set today´s fastest time at Estoril. Baptista (RP Motorsport) took second and the only driver in the series from Guatemala, Saravia (RP Motorsport), took third place

The Euroformula Open had today first taste of official practice session at Estoril. Yesterday two test sessions took place with the Bangkok-born Tanart Sathienthirakul (Motul Team West-Tec) setting the fastest time in the morning and then, in the afternoon, Brazil´s Vitor Baptista (RP Motorsport) topped the rankings.

Today, in the cumulative rankings, Konstantin Tereschenko (Campos Racing) emerged quickest by clocking a time of 1:34.188 in FP1. As usual, Friday morning times are quicker than those set in FP2 and FP3 so neither Italy´s Alessio Rovera (BVM Racing) nor Sathienthirakul could improve Konstantin´s time despite they topped FP2 and FP3 respectively. RP Motorsport duo, Baptista and Andrés Saravia finished second and third overall at the end of the day, with their lap times of 1:34.460 and 1:34.539. The top-five was rounded off by Israel´s Yarin Stern (Motul Team West-Tec) and his teammate Sathienthirakul.

Behind Diego Menchaca (Campos Racing) was first among rookie drivers with the Mexican taking 6th place ahead of Yu Kanamaru (Emilio de Villota Motorsport). Damiano Fioravanti (RP Motorsport) was 8th fastest, with his fellow countryman Rovera ninth. Another Russian racer, Alexey Chuklin (Corbetta Competizioni) finished 10th on his comeback to the series after two years.

Tereschenko has commented us afterwards that “the season so far is very intense with great competition! We are just two rounds from the start and the top of the championship table is very tight. For now we are on the top of the championship. I am getting more and more comfortable at the front of the field. Each weekend we are pushing hard to optimize car setup for each track. We are searching for some new set up features each time out. Unfortunately, not always it´s working great, but I am always pushing to the limit”.
