Campos Racing and Romanian Petru Florescu have announced today that they have decided to amicably end their collaboration in the 2017 Euroformula Open championship. Immediately after, Florescu confirmed he will join Fortec Motorsports to drive one of their Dallaras F312 in the season’s ten remaining races.
“I want to thank Campos Racing for all their guidance and efforts, but it is time to part ways. I am hoping things will work out in such a way that we work together again in the future”, Florescu said. He added: "I am very excited about joining Fortec Motorsports, as they have shown very strong pace. One of my first tests in a race car was with Fortec Motorsports while I was still doing karting so I feel at home and I am very happy to be able to work with Mick Kouros and his team of dedicated professionals”. On the other hand, Adrián Campos, CEO of Campos Racing, was quoted as saying: “We want to wish Petru the best of luck in the future and we will always be open to work again together.”
Campos Racing will field South-Africa’s Raoul Hyman to replace Florescu at the Hungaroring next weekend. Hyman, aged 21, is an experienced driver who has fared well after bursting on the international scene two years ago and will make his Euroformula Open debut next weekend.
