Carlin signs Guilherme Samaia for the rest of the season


Samaia will make his Euroformula Open debut next weekend at Silverstone

Carlin has confirmed that Guilherme Samaia will race in the Euroformula Open Championship with the team for the remainder of the 2017 season. The Brazilian will line up alongside Ameya Vaidyanathan and Devlin DeFrancesco commencing at Silverstone this weekend.

Completing the three car Carlin team, Samaia looks ahead to racing in the competitive Euroformula Open Championship in three of the four remaining rounds on the high-calibre calendar consisting of Silverstone upcoming this weekend followed by Monza and Barcelona. 20 year old Samaia, a Sao Paulo native, currently races in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship and secured a strong podium this weekend while racing at Snetterton in the series.

The 2015 Brazilian F3 Light Champion continues with his debut season racing in Europe expanding his horizons and taking on a new challenge with the team. This weekend at Silverstone marks Samaia’s first taste of Euroformula Open action.

2016 Brazilian F3-A category runner-up Samaia is well ready for the challenge and said of the upcoming weekend, “I am very grateful to have joined Carlin in the Euroformula Open Championship. I am very excited to drive the Dallara F312 car, which I hear is fantastic. I hope I learn a lot throughout the races and get the most of this experience with the team. I know I'm in excellent hands to reach the optimum performance and to gain a lot of experience during my debut at Silverstone. I know that Euroformula Open is a very competitive series and I'm looking forward to being part of the challenge for the next few races. Let's push to the end.”

Racing director Trevor Carlin added, “We are thrilled to welcome Guilherme on board for the 2017 season. He has already had a solid rookie season in the BRDC British Formula Three Championship – taking another podium this weekend at Snetterton – and while the two cars are very different we are looking forward to seeing what he can achieve in the Championship. He is very much a welcome addition to our team.”
