Two-time British F.3 champion Double R Racing confirms expansion into Euroformula Open for 2018

High profile British team joins increasingly popular Euroformula Open to make welcome return to European action. Double R Racing set to field two Dallara F318 cars as from next season

Top Formula 3 team Double R Racing has officially announced its participation to the Euroformula Open from 2018 with a pair of Dallara F318 cars in the increasingly popular pan-European category. Marking a welcome return to racing on the continent of the two time-time British Formula 3 Champion, the decorated Woking-based squad is adding the GT Sport-organized series to its existing commitments in the BRDC British F.3 and the F.4 British Championship. Double R is relishing the prospect of joining Euroformula Open which has its foundations in the former Spanish F.3 Championship and, latter, the European F.3 Open.

The addition of Double R Racing will further enrich Euroformula Open’s strong entry list and consolidates its standing on the European scene. A balanced race format and calendar, visiting F.1-graded tracks, stable rules, controlled costs, premium TV coverage, web-steaming and a relaxed atmosphere, are the key factors for delivering success.

“Going forward, in my view, Euroformula Open is going to be the premier single-seater series in Europe for young drivers, so I’m delighted to announce Double R Racing is going to be joining the championship for the 2018 season with two cars”, said Double R Racing team principal Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt.

“It’s one of the only places you can now drive a top spec Formula 3 car, and with the future demise of FIA F3 this championship is the perfect fit for Double R to add to our commitments in BRDC British F3 and British Formula 4.”

Hieatt added: “Euroformula races on some fabulous circuits, it has very stable organisation and the calendar provides some great track time for the drivers with sensible budgets. We’re really looking forward to being part of the championship and working with GT Sport, it’s going to be fantastic to be racing with our Dallara F318s in Europe again.”

Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport, commented: “We would like to give a warm welcome to Double R Racing to our series. We are proud to see they have included the Euroformula Open in their racing activities for 2018. I am sure they will make significant contributions to further raise the series’ competitiveness next year.”
