Fortec Motorsports announces first 2018 EF Open driver: American Yves Baltas
Young American Yves Baltas joins Fortec Motorsports to contest the 2018 EuroFormula Open Championship. The talented 15-year-old New York City native spent 2017 taking part in several races of the competitive British F4 Championship as the youngest driver on the grid at the beginning of the season with several impressive qualifying and race results before moving on to test and prepare for the 2018 season. After spending time with Fortec and an impressive test at Silverstone Circuit, Baltas felt extremely comfortable in a Formula car with more power which also suited his driving style. Preparing for the 2018 season Baltas expects to deliver strong results.
Yves Baltas explains: “I am very excited to be part of the Fortec team and racing in the Euroformula Open Championship. 2017 was a year that I learned a lot from and will put to use in 2018. I am also looking forward to racing at many of the historic European tracks such as Spa and Monza which will no doubt prepare me for the future that follows.”
Jamie Dye, Managing Director of Fortec Motorsports, stresses that "Fortec Motorsports are delighted to have signed Yves Baltas, this young and very talented teenager from New York City. Yves has been working with Fortec over the last few months in preparation for the 2018 season. With the progress that Yves has made, the choice was to enter in the series because it’s a great car and we have a great little team. Yves will perform really well there. Yves bonded well with the guys and has made great progress in this winter test program. We look forward to great results together. From our side we can’t wait to get going in the new year!"
