Catching up with Bent Viscaal (Teo Martín Motorsport)

Dutch Viscaal will make his Euroformula Open debut this season. The gifted 18-year-old driver is ready and very excited ahead of his first start in the series

How do you look back on your first steps in motorsport? Is motorsport a family tradition for you?

I am very pleased about my progression in motorsport so far. I have had some though times during the season but in the end it only made me stronger. Motorsport itself is kind of a tradition in our family, my granddad used to race motorbikes on a high level and my dad used to race Superkarts.

Why did you choose to compete in the Euroformula Open?

I have chosen the Euroformula open championship because I think it really is a championship with great potential. And the championship calendar is really good because you’re racing on the best tracks around Europe.

What's is new for you this season? How is the Dallara F312 in comparison with the Formula 4 that you drove last year?

Obviously the car is new to me, but the Dallara F3 really does give you a lot of confidents. Compared to a Formula 4 car you have a lot more downforce and mechanical grip. The tires are also quite different to the tires I am used to.

You will race at some iconic European circuits such as Monza, Silverstone or Spa-Francorchamps. Do you have previous experience there? How are you preparing to step into unknown?

I don’t have any race experience there but I am trying my best to get to know the tracks on the simulator. I’m obviously looking forward to race there!

What exactly is the goal you are trying to achieve this season?

The goal is to learn as much as possible. Result wise top3 is the aim.

You are the first Dutchman competing in the series, is it something special for you?

It is, I am looking forward to be the first one to represent my country in this series.
