The Dutch driver will contest Round 3 of the Euroformula Open at Spa-Francorchamps
RP Motorsport has confirmed that Leonard Hoogenboom will join the Piacenza-based team at Spa-Francorchamps. The Dutchman, aged 18, contested several Formula 4-based racing series such as the Italian F4 or the ADAC F4 before making his debut in the Pan-European Euroformula Open Championship. Hoogenboom will team up with series leader Felipe Drugovich, Guilherme Samaia and Michaël Benyahia.
Hoogenboom explains: "It will be a great emotion to debut in a fantastic track such as Spa-Francorchamps, in a very competitive and stimulating championship like the Euroformula Open. Here many young drivers have grown up and the fact to be able to debut with a team like RP Motorsport represents a great opportunity for me and I will try my best to learn as much as possible and make myself available to the team!”
Niki Rocca, Team Manager of RP Motorsport, adds: “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Leonard, who we consider a young talented driver capable of having gained different experiences in different competitive contexts despite his young age. Spa will be an important test, but of course we will do our best trying to put him in the best conditions to race into a completely new reality”.
