Scuderia Ferrari today announced Carlos Sainz jr as one of its works driver in Formula 1 for the seasons 2021-22.
Joining the Prancing Horse is always a special achievement and Carlitos will be the third Spanish driver to compete in F.1 Grand Prix with Ferrari after Alfonso de Portago in the ‘50s and Fernando Alonso, more recently.
In his way up to Formula 1, Carlos has also contested in the Euroformula (then labeled Euro F.3 Open), in what was his first racing experience with a F.3 car. He competed in the last two rounds (Jerez and Catalunya) of the 2010 season, with a car of Emilio de Villota Motorsport, clinching a 3rd and a 5th as his best result.
GT Sport congratulates Carlitos (and his family, who has always been close friends of ours) for the great news and wishes him all the best for the forthcoming years.
