The official Euroformula test at the Hockenheimring was concluded today with another sunny and warm day, although temperatures were slightly lower than yesterday.
Lukas Dunner was the hero of the day, as he posted a time of 1.31.137 in the morning session which resulted not only the fastest of the day, but also of the entire two-day test. The Austrian, who is expected to return to the series this year, was at the wheel of one of the cars of Japanese squad Crypto Tower Racing during these two days.
Today, Sebastian Estner (VAR) was second-fastest (-0s159), preceding the undisclosed driver of Double R (-0s166), Yifei Ye (Crypto Tower, -0.244), Ayrton Simmons (Double R, -0s300) and Manuel Maldonado (Motopark, -0.562). With hotter weather, the second session saw times up by one second.
Andreas Estner (VAR), who was the fast man on track yesterday, did not attend today, because of an exam commitment, while his team mate Alexandre Bardinon could only perform 8 laps, as he lost the car in the last corner while reaccelerating and hit the barriers. The car, with damage in the rear and in the front, was repaired but the Frenchman had to call it a day because of a twisted wrist.
The Euroformula Technical Delegate Luis Isasi was present to gather information directly from the teams about their proceedings with the new Dallara 320, which is giving full satisfaction and proved faster than the F317’s times of last year.
