Hockenheim is the latest addition to the calendar of the GT Open. In 2019, it will be the first time that the historic German track, home of the German Grand Prix, hosts a GT Sport raced weekend.
The Hockenheimring, situated in the Land Bade-Würtenberg, strategically located not far from Manheim and Heidelberg, was first built in 1932, to serve Germany’s rising motorsport activity of the time. Its lay-out was subsequently modified in 1938, 1965, 1992 and 2002, where the famous layout with the Östkurve was shortened to the current 4.574 km layout to fit F.1 requests.
Known for the Motodrom grandstands where fans have a superb sight, the track has hosted Formula 1 for the first time in 1970.
