Located along the Santerno river, in Imola, 40 km East of Bologna, the ‘Autodromo Enzi e Dino Ferrari’ (named after Ferrari’s founder and his son) is considered the ‘second’ most important race track in Italy after Monza. It was first used in 1953, when it was a semi-permanent track, before transformation in 1972. Since then it has become one of the most acclaimed tracks in Europe, fast and technical, with mythical corners and spots such as Tamburello, Rivazza, Tosa, Acque minerali.

The track has hosted Formula 1 since 1980, using different GP denominations: Italian GP (1980), San Marino GP (1981-2006) and Emilia Romagna GP (since 2020). Mostly remembered, of course, is the tragic 1994 edition, which saw the fatal accidents of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna. The track is also being used for numerous WSC, GT, touring car, formulae and motorbikes events.

Its current layout, long of 4.909 km, results from a thorough revision in 2007, aimed at improving safety, and keeps most of the essence of the old one and keeps running anti-clockwise. GT Sport has visited Imola three times in 2009-11, with the International GT Open.
