Christian Hahn joins Carlin

Christian Hahn will join Carlin in Euroformula Open this season, having spent the last two years in the championship mostly with Drivex School.

The 20-year-old Brazilian, whose early career included wins in sportscar racing and Formula 3 in his home country, has raced in EF Open since 2017. He finished 16th in his first season, picking up three points finishes, and improved to 10th last year. He left Drivex late in the season, joining champion team RP Motorsport for the penultimate round.

In 2018, he also competed in the closing round of the GT Open at Barcelona, taking a Pro-Am class win.

"I am very happy to race for Carlin, a team that has ran many big names and that certainly will help me to further develop my career,” said Hahn of his move. “We did a test at the end of last season and I was very impressed both with the structure of the team and with the professionalism of all the members and the way they work, paying attention to every detail. After a season of learning and a second year of consolidation, I feel more prepared to fight for the top positions. I was hoping that 2018 would be a better year, but I had a lot of problems, especially in qualifying, making it very difficult to fight for victory. I hope that now, in a new team, I can achieve these objectives.”

Carlin will run with Spiess-tuned Volkswagen engine this season, a package the team has significant experience of and which Hahn is counting on to deliver success. Hahn will make his racing debut with the team in this weekend’s Winter Series races at Paul Ricard.
