Josh Mason (CryptoTower) back to victory as he takes Race 3 in Hungary

18.06.2023

Josh Mason took his fourth Euroformula Open win in a lively Race 3 this afternoon at the Hungaroring. In his second outing in this series this year, the Briton, driving for CryptoTower Racing, made a perfect use of his position (third) in the inverted grid to take the lead at first corner.

He had to fight hard in the initial phases against Cian Shields and Jakob Bergmeister from Motopark and Juju Noda (Noda Racing), but managed to keep the position. Bergmeister was second for a few laps but he could not resist the attacks of Juju Noda, in great form. Second (after third this morning in Race 2) didn’t seem enough for the Japanese girl, who kept pushing to reduce the gap and catch Mason in the closing lap. Unfortunately, her attack was unsuccessful and she hit the back of Mason’s car in a braking, damaging her car and finishing ninth.

Bergmeister took second and the rookie win, the young German accomplishing his best race so far in the series, while Noel León took third. The Mexican of Motopark, who keeps a solid hand on the championship lead, had to fight hard with Bryce Aron (Motopark), Francesco Simonazzi (BVM Racing) and Cian Shields (Motopark), who finished in that order. The fight between the three animated most of the race, with Vladimir Netusil taking the success in the Gold Cup.

In the championship standings, León has now a 42-point advantage on Bryce Aron, who has climbed to second position.
