23.07.2023

Cian Shields won Race 3 that the concluded the fourth event of the Euroformula Open held at the Paul Ricard. The Scot of Motopark made a perfect use of the pole in the reversed grid, taking the lead and pulling away to conquer his second win in the series.

“It was still warm this late afternoon but more bearable”, he said, “and it was a good race. I am taking races one by one and focusing on improving.”

In the initial laps, the Scot was challenged by Juju Noda, but the Japanese could not hold the pace and was soon passed by León (lap 3), who had overtaken Simonazzi in his way to a final second. This result allowed the Mexican to take some breathing space at the top of the overall standings. His advantage over Bryce Aron had fallen to 9 points after Race 2, but with the American finishing fourth in Race 3, the Mexican has been able to extend to 17 points (201 vs 184) his advantage. Still, the championship is more open than ever after the French round.

Noda eventually took her second podium of the weekend, with Aron finishing fourth ahead of Francesco Simonazzi,  Jakob Bergmeister, Vladislav Ryabov and Attila Pénzes.
