A specialist of Race 3, Cian Shields (Motopark) took his third success of the season in the last race at the Red Bull Ring. Thanks to a brilliant move at the start, the scot managed to take the lead and keep it until the end.
Finishing second after a great comeback, Noel León further extended his lead in the standings, bringing it to 60 points. His most direct rival now is Cian Shields, after a bad weekend for Bryce Aron.
Josh Dufek (CryptoTower) took his second podium in his debut weekend in the series, while Jakob Bergmeister has now taken the lead in the Rookies’ Trophy.
THE RACE – At the start, with reversed grid based on qualifying results, Jakob Bergmeister is in pole ahed of teammates Bryce Aron and Cian Shields, the two CryptoTower drivers (Charlie Wurz and Josh Dufek), and championship leader Noel León.
It is though Shields kicking off best and sneaking in-between Aron and Bergmeister to take the lead ahead of León, Dufek, Wurz, Simonazzi, Brajnik and Netusil. Shields manages to pull away and build a 3-second advantage by lap 8, but it’s León putting the show as he passes Bergmeister and then Aron to become second and start chasing the Scot. On his side, Wurz becomes fifth as he passes Dufek, who in lap 15 takes third from Aron.
The final laps see also Simonazzi passing Aron, who closes in as sixth ahead of Bergmeister, Brajnik and Netusil.
