Francesco Simonazzi (BVM Racing) took in style his third win of the season after dominating Race 2 at the Hungaroring, keeping himself in the race for the Euroformula title.
The Italian made a perfect use of the pole position in the reversd grid to take the lead after a short battle with Jakob Bergmeister. From the on, he built enough gap to be safe, but on the contrary, he never stopped pushing, starting what seemed a race with himself, continuously increasing his advantage, posting the fastest lap and crossing the line with and advantage of 12.5 seconds over Bergmeister.
“I don’t know what I ate this morning”, said the Italian, “but I felt very charged and never stopped pushing, even when I felt some fatigue coming. I really was in challenge with myself and enjoying every moment. I am very happy of having been able to keep the tyres in the optimal window throughout the entire race.”
The podium was completed by championship leader Brad Benavides, who took third after a few corners in the opening lap, after a contact between Fernando Barrichello and Levente Révész. The Brazilian was third at the start but went wide in T2, getting in contact with the Hungarian as he rejoined the track. The local hero dropped to sixth behind Michael Shin, before having to retire in lap 3 because of damage in his car.
