Francesco Simonazzi replicated in Race 3 the success of this morning, following a very similar script. The Italian took the lead after two corners and controlled everything, starting another fight with himself and pushing throughout the race to cross the line with an advantage of 13.7 seconds, after signing the fastest lap.
“It was a pretty similar race and I am very happy to have won two races in the same day, something that never did at the Hungaroring”, said the Italian of BVM Racing, “I didn’t understand much what happened at the beginning of the race, but I found myself in the lead and took it from there.”
What happened at the lights and in first corner is that Jakob Bergmeister and Levente Révész, who were sitting in the front row, went very wide in turn 1 and collided as they rejoinde the track, leaving the way free to Simonazzi, who ws starting from third.
Both Bergmeister and Révész suffered punctures and damage, having to stop in the pits. Championship leader Brad Benavides made a conservative race to finish second after passing Fernando Barrichello. The Brazilian rookie took a well-deserved first overall podium.
