01.12.2024

The 2024 Euroformula Open Champion and Vice-champion were awarded their season’s trophies during a glittering evening at the Casino de Madrid on Friday evening. Brad Benavides and Francesco Simonazzi shared the applause with the winners of the other series organized by GT Sport, the International GT Open and the GT Cup Europe.

The traditional Awards Ceremony of GT Sport returned to the sumptuous halls of the Casino in the heart of Madrid already in Christmas gear, where 110 guests enjoyed the gala dinner prepared by the Casino de Madrid’s two Michelin-starred chef Paco Roncedo.

Joaquín Verdegay, Vice President of the Royal Spanish Motorsports Federation (RFEdA) and Jesús Pareja awarded the prizes. After dueling intensely but always in the fairest manner throughout the season, Motopark’s Benavides and BVM’s Francesco Simonazzi, joined by their respective families and friends, could share more relaxed moments. Having gone back home to Brazil for the season break, third-classified and Rookie Trophy winner Fernando Barrichello could not attend, while Motopark was acclaimed as the winning Team.

In his address, Jesús Pareja stressed how “spectacular and intense was the racing in 2024” and expressed his “confidence about the opening of a new cycle for the Euroformula in 2025”, with the introduction of the new Tom’s-powered Dallara 324, “an even better and faster car.”
