After Vlad Lomko this morning, Josh Mason also conquered his second win of the season in a Race 3 in the heat of Imola. The Brit of CryptoTower beat teammate Christian Mansell and Motopark’s Frederick Lubin, again on the podium after another great performance.

Mason commented: “It was a difficult weekend, we had the pace but did not qualify well. Still, this put me in pole twice. In Race 2, there was this unfortunate contact with Mansell, but here everything went well. We are carrying on the good momentum started in Hungary and hopefully there are more good results to come.”

THE RACE – It’s a clean start for Race 3 in the heat of the afternoon with poleman Mason keeping the advantage on Lubin and Mansell, who has passed Simonazzi. The Italian is overtaken by Lomko at Tamburello in lap 2, but the Franco-Russian loses two positions the lap after as he tries to attack Mansell.

Mason pulls away but gaps remain tight, as Lubin is 1.1 second behind by lap 6, with Mansell, Simonazzi and Goethe very close behind. Soon, it is Lubin that needs to defend his second position from a more and more compact group behind him. The fight is all benefit for Mason, who leads undisputed with a 3-second gap by lap 11.

Over the laps, the group gets split in two, with Lubin, Mansell and Simonazzi fighting hard and Goethe and Lomko slightly behind. Lubin will resist well until almost the end but could not avoid Mansell stealing second, while Simonazzi got eventually passed by Goethe and Lomko after a slight off-track.
