05.04.2023

Japan’s Juju Noda will take part in the 2023 Euroformula Open, ‘with the aim to improve her skills and step up in a higher-racing environment’, as announced today by Noda Racing.

Juju, 17, has previously competed in F.4 and the W Series. She is the daughter of former F.1 and Indycar racer Hideki Noda, who runs Noda Racing, the squad that will enter the Dallara 320 from its European base in Italy. Juju competed in the Drexler Cup in Mugello, Italy on 24-25 March this year, finishing 4th in race 1 and winning race 2. After this successful European campaign’s start, she decided to work and improve her skills even further by joining the Euroformula Open.

Juju Noda said: “This decision is a huge challenge and a big step in my career, I am looking forward to it. I know I will learn and improve so much by competing against superfast and experienced drivers. I just want to do my best, improve and have fun. It is very exciting news after my recent win at Mugello. I never give up, even when things are hard, that’s the spirit that led to last week’s victory. I would like to thank WSP, ZEXAVERSE, MIKIHOUSE and many other sponsors, fans, friends and family for giving me this opportunity. This year, I really feel things are going in the right direction.”

Hideki Noda, Noda Racing Team Manager, commented: “Juju will be up against a top-level team that enters six cars and has won 3 of the last 4 championships. A real challenge for a small, one-car team can like us, but Juju has already shown us in the past how she can go above and beyond and achieve the impossible. I would like to thank the many sponsors, fans, friends and family who support us this year, as well as GT Sport for assisting us in making this project possible. It is a great pleasure for us to be able to compete in the Euroformula Open, which has produced many F1 and Indycar drivers.”

Jesús Pareja, CEO of GT Sport, added: “Having Juju in the Euroformula is a great opportunity for us and for her as well. Juju is a real challenger, a young woman from Japan with great potential. We are very happy to welcome her to our series, it means a lot to us as well as to her, and we will be rooting for Juju to succeed. ”

Note: Juju Noda will be the tenth female driver to compete in the F.3-based series organized by GT Sport since 2001, succeeding María de Villota, Ianina Zanazzi, Natacha Gachnang, Carmen Jordá, Vicky Piria, Michela Cerruti, Valeria Carballo, Tatiana Calderón and Vivien Keszthelyi.
