Benavides fastest by only 3 thousandths on first day of Winter Test

The Winter Test that started Tuesday at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya marks the unofficial start of the 2024 season.

On a beautiful spring day on the Catalan track, the attending teams, Motopark, and BVM Racing, took the track for two sessions and a total of 4.5 hours of activity.

The fastest lap time of the day was set by US driver Brad Benavides in 1.31.477 in the first session, which proved to be the quickest of the day, although by only 3 thousandths. 

Covered by half a second were also Levente Révész, Cenyu Han, and Martinius Stenshorne. The Norwegian was the only one to improve in the second session, topping the rankings in 1.32.008.

It was a day of ‘study’ for rookie Fernando Barrichello, flanked by his illustrious father Rubens, and of return to action for Francesco Simonazzi.
